Organizing the Freezer With Wire Shelves

organized in 365 Organizing the Freezer With Wire Shelves

The following idea was submitted by a reader. I have an upright freezer too, so I plan on implementing this tip in my own home!

I was having trouble stacking things in my upright freezer.  After school started I found some 12″ locker shelves for $1.25 at Target. They worked great for organizing my freezer.

I can keep the bread stacked without smushing it, and bags of vegetables don’t slide around. I did this in August, and since I have shifted them around a bit to fit whatever I put in (whatever was on sale!).

I’d love to see some ideas for organizing a chest freezer effectively without the baskets they usually come with. I love all your great ideas and following your story.

I agree with Barbara, anyone out there have any chest freezer organization tips? The only thing I’ve come up with is keeping like-things in plastic bags so I can pick up “bags of stuff” at a time (like cheese, butter, etc.). However, it’s still not totally manageable and stuff gets lost at the bottom. :)

I’ll start looking for ideas! I’ve only had one chest freezer in my life and it was NEVER organized! I’m sure lots of people could benefit from a post.

I just defrosted my chest freezer and took pictures to post. I categorize meats by plastic bags. I’ll share the post next week. Locker shelves are a great idea for upright.

One thing i’ve started doing is laying my ziploc bags of misc. sauces, veggies, stocks, etc. flat to freeze. Then they stack really well when they are frozen solid, and take up far less room than big, randomly-shaped hunks.
