Healthy Snacks on the Go & Giveaway

Summer is a great time for day trips with the family! I love outings with the kids, but I don’t like the high prices of eating on the road! I usually pack snacks when we head out for the day to keep the kids from begging for nuggets and fries on the way home.

I’ve shared with you before how you can take any muffin recipe and make it healthier by substituting applesauce for oil.

My favorite on the go snack are pear muffins, they are a big hit with the kids and when made with whole wheat flour and applesauce are an awesome healthy snack.

If you are looking for healthy snacks when you’re on-the-go you’ll want to check out the recipe section of the Musselmans’s website. They have lots of great easy snack ideas all made with applesauce!

If your kids prefer bars to muffins, you’ll want to try the chewy fruit bar recipe. It is filled with oats, raisins, and walnuts.

The folks at Musselmans would like to give one reader a Musselman’s prize pack so you can make some of your own delicious and healthy snacks. You’ll also get a few recipe ideas in the prize pack as well.

To enter the giveaway leave a comment sharing your favorite healthy snack. Giveaway ends May 20, 2012.

A piece of fresh fruit is always good for me. Apples or bananas are good for grabbing quickly and snacking on the go, and berries are great for sitting down and snacking on.

  2. muffins and homemade granola bars

My kids favorites are fresh fruit – apples, grapes and bananas the most. I love trail mix with some granola mixed in. YUM!
