School is starting soon and evenings will soon be filled with homework, after school activities, and errands! I’ve found that the first few weeks of school are always hard on our dinner routine. In my house there is always a child who has trouble getting into a school routine and we end up schooling until dinner for the first few weeks.

If you struggle with busy evenings you’ll want to grab a copy of my friend Tiffany’s new book Feast in 15 Feast in 15. The book is filled with tips for getting on meals on the table fast!  Feast in 15 contains ideas for naturally fast foods, quick, healthy and easy to prepare sides, and over thirty recipes that take 15 minutes or less to prepare! In the back of the book you’ll find grocery lists and menu plans for an two weeks of dinners.

This book is available on Amazon in Kindle Feast in 15 or you can purchase it directly from the Feast in 15 website as a pdf download.

I have two copies of Feast in 15 to give away to my readers. If you buy the book and then win the giveaway the purchase price will be refunded, no need to wait until the end of the giveaway! To enter leave a comment letting me know your dinnertime challenge. Giveaway ends August 4, 2011.

Would love this book! My biggest challenge I call ‘chaos hour’. It’s 5 o’clock and my husband is on his way home from work so we often talk on the phone while he travels. My 3 year old is whiny for daddy and my baby needs a nap but often doesn’t fall asleep for his 3rd one all while trying to get dinner on the table.

  2. Marla F. says:

I work days and my husband works nights. He has to leave the house before my daughter and I get home. I would try to use the slow cooker but he doesn’t like many meals in the slow cooker. He used to try to cook something for us but it tended to be mostly hamburger helper and we really got tired of it. He usually just makes a couple of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and takes them with him and I try to come up with something quick and simple for our daughter and me but it is harder to just cook for the two of us. My husband and I both love using cookbooks. I know this would be a great way for both of us to come up with better nutritious meals. Thanks for the giveaway!

  3. sarah w says:

My husband and I were both raised in meat centric homes. We’re trying to be more vegetable focused. That’s been a challenge.

  4. Renae Feathers says:

My biggest challenge is gaining the confidence to succesfully pull off preparing & cooking a meal everyone in my family will love! No small feat when my husband is a chef & has cooked the evening meal for the last 16 yrs! But now that I have quit my job to.homeschool our 2nd grader & care for our 2 year old…..I have taken this task over. And I am not confident or comfortable enough in the kitchen to plan, then prepare a meal with a 2 yr old pulling on my leg for attention while my 7 yr old needs directions to finish math. Not to mention trying to have the meal live up to the standards we have all become accustomed. I need help!

  5. Emily Sears says:

My biggest challenge is too much clean up. I wind up using too many dishes and have quite a mess by the time dinner is ready…

  6. jen says:

making something that everyone will eat that is still somewhat healthy!

  7. Heather says:

My biggest challenge is dishing up and cutting up food for my 4 small children quickly enough that I can eat while it’s still hot!

  8. punkinmama says:

My biggest challenge is knowing *what* to cook every night. And even when I do know, getting it all done at the same time is the next challenge!

  9. Libby Owens says:

What’s for dinner? That’s my biggest challenge. I think through the options but end up with just a few meals . So, we tend to eat the same things over & over. I could use this book to get more mealtime ideas & not have to spend all evening in the kitchen. Thanks for the giveaway!

  10. Shelia B. says:

My biggest challenge: being a single mother of 3 (all in school) and working full time. By the time we all get home around 5:30 daily, finish up homework and the regular betime routine, who has time to fix a decent meal let alone anything remotely healthy… Try as I might, some nights are just fend for yourselves.

  11. Angie Walters says:

My biggest challenge is getting a meal plan on paper and sticking to it!

  12. Jodi says:

My biggest challenge is using what we have on hand, and not eating out. Tired of the same old same meals! Awesome giveaway!! thanks!!

  13. Heather Gordon says:

My biggest challenge is that sometimes I feel to tired to make a dish from my weekly menu plan and so we end up ordering out. This is happening more than I would like!

  14. emily says:

My main challenge is back pain — I have difficulty standing for more than 15-20 minutes at a time, and it’s hard to find recipes that are healthy, taste good, and can be made in that amount of time!

  15. Samantha R says:

My challenge is deciding what to make and if the kids are being winey, then its a challenge just to be in the kitchen to make it!

  16. Suzanne says:

My biggest challenge is getting a healthy and fast dinner on the table. I have 4 children (8,6 (picky eater),2, and new (2 mo.)), I work part time during the school year and my husband is a pilot based out of town so he’s gone about 5 days a week. I like the kids to eat healthy food, but finding healthy and fast dinner choices can be a challenge, especially on the days that I’m on my own. This books looks like it may have some good ideas/recipes in it.

  17. Rheanon A says:

I am a stay at home Mom of 4 kiddos that I get the privilege of homeschooling and being with them. My husband is currently working near Joplin, so he is only home on weekends, as we live in Texas. My biggest challenge is I rack my brain all week to have healthy meals on a budget that by the weekends when my husband gets home, I’m looking for quick and easy, so we can enjoy seeing him, the little that we do, and not spend my whole weekend when he is here in the kitchen. An added bonus to this cookbook is it would not just give me quick ideas for when he is here, but help me spend less time in the kitchen as school is beginning again for us. Thanks!

  18. kriswithmany says:

Getting the food made without it taking 2 hours. It takes so long, every single day! The second hardest thing is coming up with a menu plan. I have the hardest time during the summer months, when I don’t want to have the oven on at all.

  19. Jessica says:

My struggle is I watch other people’s kids so when they are late picking up their little ones it pushes everything else back. Add in a fussy nine month old and you have chaos on hand!

  20. Kristy says:

Right now it feels like my biggest challenge is the afternoon just “getting away from me” and all of a sudden it is 4:45 and I gotta get moving!

  21. Nancy Michel says:

My biggest challenge is that my husband works “second” shift, which can start anywhere from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. ; depending what machine they have him scheduled on. Our “main” meal is (has to be) around noon. It is quite a challenge to start cooking at 10 or 10:30 in the morning and have a full dinner on the table at noon. During the time I get up to the time I start working on dinner, I have the regular morning household chores, doctor/dentist appts, as well as make my husband’s lunch for work. I definately have to start my planning and at times, some preparation the night before; especially if I’m using a crockpot to cook in. I would love some new ideas and recipies that do not take half the morning to prepare.

  22. miltonmom says:

I find my biggest challenge is finding something I can fix that will cover various eating schedules…The hubs currently leaves for work around noon so I try to feed him before he goes plus send extras in his lunch but also have enough left over to feed to teenage boys who run on completely different schedules,,,,,Need ideas!!!

  23. Ashley says:

I would like to win this! Thanks for the opportunity.

  24. Megan G says:

My biggest challenge is putting dinner together while my 20 month old is under foot. He isn’t much of a helper yet, but he sure likes to try!

  25. Gwen says:

I recently broke my wrist and while my husband was a huge help during the summer (he’s a professor with the summer off) I’m worried about how things will work when we get back to school and he goes back to work.

  26. Karen says:

My biggest challenge is getting them to eat whatever I cook without offering/bribing with a dessert or other sweet item. Otherwise they might just not ever eat a vegetable.

  27. Denise says:

My biggest challenge for dinner is getting the food home from the store. We don’t have a car, so I either walk or take the bus and then have to carry all the food home. Beverages get VERY heavy. I do end up shopping every other day or so, and that helps.

  28. Christine says:

My challenge is making sure I provide healthy meals, while at the same time sticking to a budget!

  29. Shannon H says:

My biggest challenge is getting my kids to eat what I make for dinner.

  30. stacy says:

My biggest challenge is getting us together at the same time to eat.

  31. Karen says:

My biggest challenge is planning early enough so that the meat can be defrosted.

  32. Kelly S says:

The hardest thing at our house is planning ahead and then sticking to that plan. Also, making something easy but healthy & won’t heat up the house too much.

  33. jesika says:

I never learned how to menu plan, so when 5:30 rolls around, I’m usually panicked because I didn’t take any meat out of the freezer to thaw.

  34. Olya says:

I have 3 kids 7 and under, and I’m due in 4 weeks :) . It’s going to be pretty hard to get things ready on time for dinner. For now my biggest challenge is getting everyone eat the same thing for dinner.

  35. Andrea says:

I find it hard to get up the motivation to put a healthy meal on the table on the days that I work. I live an hour away from work and after working a 10-12 hour shift it’s hard to find the motivation to face cooking and five kids (6 and under) all trying to get my attention the second I step in the door. Way too often the (nasty) dollar menu wins out. I guess it’s a good thing I’m only in the office 2 days a week :)

  36. Aimee says:

My husband and I are both teachers and are about to start back to work. We also have four amazing kids with additional after school activities we cater to as well. I need this book to get a full healthy meal in them! :) ))

  37. Kelly McBride says:

My biggest challenge is the size of my kitchen. We have five children and live in a townhouse. When I am trying to make dinner, I really need the kids to stay out.

  38. Melanie says:

Twice a week we leave the house at 1:30 and get home at 6:30 so not much time to get things made.

  39. Annie says:

So thankful I came across your site! My biggest challenge is finding things that are actually healthy. I have been diabetic with all 7 of my pregnancies and try to follow that meal plan even when I’m not pregnant. Something quick and easy would sure help at the end of our very busy homeschooling days! Thanks!

  40. Rebecca says:

Right now, my biggest challenge is my almost 2-yr. old. She either wants to help when I’m rushing about trying to finish dinner, or she whines and hangs onto me. I know I need to do more prep ahead of time, but implementing it is my challenge!

  41. Allie says:

My biggest challenge is time! I’m at school from 7 to 8 or 9 usually, and so finding the time to pre-cook meals (usually on Sundays) is a challenge.

  42. JoAnne says:

My challenge is to make healthy dinners that everyone likes and that can be made in a hurry to accomodate our crazy schedule of ballet, football, school, work, marching band, church….etc.

  43. Sara says:

Thanks for this great tip! I’m a SAHM, both hubby and I are in school full-time and he works full-time as well. We have a 20 year old son and a 2 year old daughter. Right now the biggest challenge is our toddler who is serious about wanting to “help cook”! With homework and schedules, cooking something fast and healthy would be a breath of fresh air!

  44. Julie says:

thanks for the giveaway! My biggest challenge- accommodating my picky eater! I feel bad because she is so little and would rather not eat than eat something she doesn’t like- we joke that she eats good every third day- we call that her “eating day”. I’m really worried about upcoming first grade and school lunch…..

  45. Heather says:

My biggest dinner time challenge is trying to prepare dinner while the four little ones are wanting to go and play outside while I am trying to cook dinner or holding off the baby until Daddy is able to get home from work so we can all sit down together as a family.

  46. Fast food we need! We get home tired and ready to collapse, but I need healthy options for my family that take just a short amount of time from start to finish.

  47. Meredith Glynn says:

Would love this book. My husband and I Have 45 minutes between when I get home from work and when he leaves for work. We NEED quick!

  48. Lisa R says:

My biggest challenge is meal planning. If I have something planned in advance, things go a lot smoother at dinnertime. If I don’t plan ahead, we do too much take out!

  49. Karen says:

    Hello!
My dinner challenge is really what to prepare that is healthy and that my younger children can help with. I like to incorporate the kids into every meal prep time as part of our home schooling training. I have three at home and one in college, but living at home. Also, I have a small business, I need to prepare dinner for my elderly parents and my husband works 2 jobs, so dinner tends to be later. So, any time saving help is much appreciated! Thanks!

I just realized that the giveaway was finished 2 days ago! I guess I need to read more carefully! :D
