In Alaska I can get a ground turkey chub for about $2 at Wal-Mart’s. I think I would be looking at about $5 to $6 for this meal. Not counting the fruit ( :

Inexpensive meal. The only thing I do different is add mixed vegetables vs corn and now, well almost, we should be able to buy lettuce at our mini farmers market.

Since your shepherd’s pie was only $3.80, I’d cut up an onion to add to the meat, just for more flavor.

Our comissary is somewhat far away. I haven’t been there since the price of gas skyrocketed this summer.

BUT, I should probably go back. Meat for $1 a pound is great!

Excellent frugal meal! I have a hard time finding meat that cheap though. I am keeping my eye out though and my freezer is ready…
