I would not add much more flour to your bread as it changes the texture of the finished product. One way to make your bread easier to handle is to coat your hands with oil (I have used olive oil and canola). The bread is very easy to work with when your hands are oiled!

Oh, i am SO glad that you posted this because I was just thinking the same thing about my bread machine. I don't like the shape and the slices end up being too large for my girls to have for the sandwiches in their lunches.

The one thing that I did find however, was that the dough was too sticky to play around with. Can I add more flour to the dough in order to make it less sticky without ruining the bread?

I'm looking forward to baking as the temperatures cool down! Now if I only had a few more hours in the day...~sigh~

Your sis in law's bread looks great---now. That first loaf I'm not too sure about. : ]

This kinda makes me want to run out and buy a bread maker. I'll check the garage sales first.

I love to make homemade bread...thanks for the tips. I do make braided bread but leave it on a flat cookie sheet to cook...but I like your idea of putting it into a loaf pan - looks pretty. And the idea of baking the bread in a round cake pan sounds fun...regular bread can be so boring!

Recipe? Do you have a good bread recipe? I do not have a bread machine though. I would be doing the dough in my Kitchen Aide and then using the good old oven to cook.
Thanks! : )

Oh man, if I could bake bread like that, I bet my dh would let me. As it is he just gets upset when I bake bread. He just says that it is not as good as store bought :(

I always like it, but then I am a bread lover.

Those pics made my mouth water!

That braid is beautiful! I've only made yeast bread once and plan to do it more as the weather turns cooler. I just can't get myself to turn the oven on when it's over 80.
