Bible in 90 Days: Summer Edition

Bible in 90 Days: Summer Edition

In January, I started The Bible in 90 DaysBible in 90 Days: Summer Edition. I finished in late March and loved the experience. Although I was overwhelmed a few times, it was definitely worth it and I glad I stuck through to the end! For those of you who missed it the first time around there is another Bible in 90 Days group starting on July 5th.

Blogging through the Bible in 90 Days with MomsToolbox.com begins July 5. Participants will read every word of the Bible, check in weekly on MomsToolbox.com and be encouraged in their journey into God’s Word. You can learn more about the Bible in 90 Days on Mom’s Toolbox and sign up on the site.

My sister-in-law Amy leads the Bible in 90 Days discussions on her Moms Toolbox blog. She read the Bible in 90 Days several years ago and is committed to helping others do the same. I never quite understood her zeal for the 90 Day program until I did it myself. It is truly a unique way to read through the bible and I am thankful I was able to participate in the January group.

If you are considering reading through the Bible in 90 days I would encourage you to participate in the online group. I found that it held me accountable and motivated me when I got a little behind. Amy is a wonderful mentor and I know you will be blessed if you are able to participate.

Bedtime Stories with Laura Numeroff

This giveaway is now closed. The winner is Mama Hen.

I love children’s books. I tend to gravitate towards books that were written 50 years ago because I feel like many of the books written today are lacking. One exception to my “old book” rule is any book by Laura Numeroff. My kids love her books! In fact I just brought one home from the library last week. We have several of her books on our shelves and they are well worn. My son especially loves If You Give a Moose a Muffin, I think we have read it over 100 times.

I was excited to learn that Laura is coming to Maryland next week. My kids and I will be listening to her read her latest Jellybeans book and hopefully get a photo or two. This event is open to everyone and I am sure it will be loads of fun.

Laura is helping to promote a new program that encourages parents to read to their kids before bed. I know that some of my favorite memories growing up were bedtime stories, read to me by my parents. Even as an adult my favorite thing to do before bed is curl up with a good book.

Reading to your kids before bed (or anytime) is a great way to encourage a love of reading.

You can join Laura, next Friday, April 30, 2010, at Sleepy’s in Ellicott City, for a live story hour. They will be giving away free copies of her latest book, The Jellybeans and the Big Book BonanzaBedtime Stories with Laura Numeroff . My kids are very excited about this event, and I would love to meet other local readers if you can attend.

I realize not everyone lives close enough to Ellicott City to attend this event, so I am giving away a signed copy of The Jellybeans and the Big Book BonanzaBedtime Stories with Laura Numeroff to one reader. To enter, leave a comment letting me know you favorite children’s book. My favorite book that we read this week is Blueberries for Sal, but honestly I have about twenty favorites so I don’t think I could pick just one! Giveaway ends Tuesday, April 27, 2010.
