Menu Plan: My New Kitchen

I must say that after a month of winging it at meal time I am ready to get back into a routine! My kitchen is all unpacked and ready to be used. I must say it is harder than I thought getting use to a new kitchen, new appliances, and my electric stove! After having a gas stove for most of the last 10 years I am not use to electric. I would show you a picture of my new kitchen, but unfortunately my camera is still MIA. I did find my watch tonight though. Menu Plan: My New Kitchen

My son asked for a “real” breakfast last night before bed. I guess the weeks of cereal for breakfast are finally taking their toll. No worries son, pancakes, waffles, bagels and a new biscuit recipe are on the menu this week!

Menu Plan: Moving Edition

Did you know that it is possible to live off of Kit Kats, peanut butter, bread, and cereal? Surprisingly, it is! The past two weeks have been crazy with the packing, driving, hotels, and now unpacking. Can you believe the movers packed ALL my food in the pantry? They even packed open bags of rice cakes! I am thankful they did, because I haven’t had time to make a trip to the grocery store and my pantry has kept us going over the weekend.

Hopefully I will check out the new commissary this week as well as Publix. I am going to miss my Safeway double coupons, but I am hoping Publix’s BOGO’s will be just as good.

This weeks menu involves lots of sandwiches, frozen pizza’s and maybe some soup. I am looking forward to getting unpacked and settled and back into a routine. While I do like our new diet of Kit Kats and cereal, I’m hoping for something more substantial next week!

I’d share a picture of my new kitchen…. but I haven’t found my camera!

Menu Plan and a Question for You

This is what the Happy Family will be eating this week….

Menu Plan and a Question for You

Menu Plan and a Question for You

We have two weeks until the movers arrive, and it is my goal to have the fridge and pantry as empty as possible before they show up.

On a side note: For those of you who have sold your house, what do you do about dinner when realtors come to show the house between the hours of 3pm and 6pm? This seems to be the time of choice around here and it has left me scrambling for dinner. I’d love to hear how you have managed house showings, kids, and meals!

PS: I wanted to add, we are only the renters in this house. While I do want the house to sell, that isn’t my responsibility… so there isn’t as much pressure.

Menu Plan: Countdown to Moving Day

Three weeks until the movers come and we have managed to clear out our extra fridge in the garage. My pantry is still pretty full, but I hope to make some progress on it over the next two weeks. We still have lots of boxes of pasta, jars of sauce, and crackers. If pasta dishes dominate the menu over the next few weeks it is because that is what I have the most of in my pantry.

I also have lots of grain and oats in my basement storage that I would like to use up over the next few weeks. I’ll be taking them with me in the car, but I would love to have less to lug around! I’m thankful for the cooler temperatures so I can start baking more often and using up some of that grain!
