My in-laws live in between two lakes. One is more like a pond, but it has enough animal life for me to consider it a lake. While we were staying at their house the strangest thing happened. Two sand cranes (I think) walked from the lake towards my in-laws’ house and up their driveway. All eight of us were outside, I was taking pictures like crazy and they didn’t fly away, they just stood there, stared at us and made their bird noises. This event is much better described in pictures, so here they are.

I love the last picture. It really gives a good perspective as to the birds’ actual sizes!

They are called sandhill cranes. They are all over in Florida aren’t they neat. Your vaca looks like you had fun!
