What an awesome post! I just shared this on Facebook. We need to remember our troops and families more than just on Veteran's Day. :D Thank you so much for sharing this.

I am a military wife of the best hubby, father and son. As much as he is great at all those roles a SOLDIOR comes first, often. We support that effort in all we are and do as his wife and family. My hubby has been gone for many, many, many. deployments and as our fa,ily grows so does the strain of these deployments. I have been blessed with a military family I didn't even know I had. Being married so young and not ever being far from home hid deployments were horrible for me. Other wives would call and stop by and invite me places. I was and am still grateful for them all. As a military wife of almost 11 years now I often reach out to the new wives and remember the same feelings. I hope people understand that a simple call or conversation to a wife may be all the conversation she has all day and I am gratefull to all those that talked to me!!

These are wonderful suggestions, but I would also encourage folks to reach out to military families around you year round, not just during deployments. We love making new friends, and most of us live far away from extended family. Having special "aunties" or adoptive "grandparents" be a part of my childrens' lives is a priceless treasure.

Thank you for the Holiday Mail for Heroes link. I would love to send mail or help out those serving our country but I don't know anybody personally, so this will help me get involved!

We, too, have benefitted from help when my husband was deployed. A church friend took me to the ER and had her daughter babysit when I had a midnight medical emergency. The Knights of Columbus unclogged my drain, and the wonderful Auto Hobby Shop folks at Annapolis and at Northwest have fixed car problems for me - many times! (I killed four cars during one deployment...isn't that a record of some kind?)

The smallest kindness means so much to military members and their families, particularly during deployments.

Awesome list. I'm an Army wife and so many of these suggestions are thoughtful and amazing ways to reach out to Military families.

Thanks... to you for your sacrifice for our country. Not only do you support your husband 100% by keeping things running well at home so he can do his job (and serve all of us) but you also help so many other military families by sharing your wisdom.
Thank you to you, your awesome husband and your amazing kids. Thanks for your many sacrifices for all of us.
I do appreciate it.

I am not sure about a program for kids. I'll see if I can find out something for you.
